Powell, Contracting Officer, (703) 632-1640 The Federal Bureau of Investigation intends to negotiate a sole source firm-fixed price contract with Winchester Ammunition, Division of Olin Corporation, East Alton, IL, to provide various types of ammunition, during an interim period, under Request for Quotation (RFQ) Number 794718. On 9/30/1999, the FBI's contracts for .40 S&W caliber and .223 caliber ammunition expired. The FBI is in the process of issuing solicitations for these calibers, however, the following quantities are needed to continue the FBI's immediate mission. For the FBI to ensure that all ammunition purchased does not or will not harm any weapons, an extensive evaluation is conducted. The previous contract ammunition was put through this extensive evaluation, prior to evaluation. The ammunition is as follows: CLIN #1) 300 Thousand (MX) rounds, .40 S&W Caliber ball, 165 grain; and, CLIN #2) 45 MX rounds, .223 55 grain Full Metal Jacket. No component of the round shall have been used previously. Reloaded ammunition is unacceptable. The ammunition shall be manufactured to the specifications and recommended standards of SAAMI. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
