OF RENAL CELL CANCER AMONG CAUCASIANS AND AFRICAN AMERICANS ELECTRONIC
RFP ANNOUNCEMENT, POTENTIAL OFFERORS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
DOWNLOADING THEIR OWN COPY OF THE SOLICITATION AND AMENDMENTS. The
Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG), Epidemiology and
Biostatistics Program (EBP)and Human Genetics Program (HGP), of the
National Cancer Institute (NCI) is conducting a study to examine
lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that may contribute to
the increasing incidence rates of renal cell cancer in the United
States and to the greater excess of this cancer among African
Americans. This population based case-control study of renal cell
cancer will be conducted in areas of the United States with a high
proportion of African American residents. The following work will be
conducted to support the population-based case-control study, including
direct interview with a total of 700 African American cases and 1400
controls, and 1400 each of non-African American cases and controls from
approximately 3-4 Study Centers over a case ascertainment period of
approximately 3-4 years, as well as a brief interview with next of kin
of eligible deceased cases. The contracts awarded as a result of this
announcement will involve the following: 1) Study initiation and
preparation of study materials; 2) Communication; 3) Case
identification and recruitment; 4) Control identification and
recruitment; 5) Review of study progress; 6) Data collection; 7) Data
tracking, processing, and quality control; and 8) Deliverable and
reporting requirements. A contract will be awarded for a Coordinating
Center via another mechanism. This announcement is for the study
centers covering residents of well-defined geographic areas in the
United States. This procurement is a new project which is expected to
cover a performance period of 60 months. The contracts to be awarded
will be cost-reimbursement, completion. All responsible sources meeting
these criteria are encouraged to submit an offer and will be considered
by the National Cancer Institute. It is anticipated that the
solicitation package will be available on /about July 1, 2000 with
proposals due 30 calendar days after the issue date of the RFP. The RFP

Proposals". All responsible sources may submit a proposal which sahll
