Concerns having the ability to furnish the supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 45 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Hazards Team, Golden, Colorado, has a requirement for ten (10) Kinemetrics K2 Model Strong Motion Accelerographs. The K2 Accelerograph is required because of its high resolution (19 bits), high dynamic range (greater than 110 dB), and simultaneous sampling of up to 12 channels of data. The accelerograph must be capable of recording velocity transducers for greatly enhanced dynamic range and be adaptable to a wide variety of recording requirements in seismological applications. The accelerogrph must also meet the following specifications: 1) Internal Episensor, 2g full scale; 2) Locking leveling feet; 3) Input connector for channels 4,5,6; 4) cell phone ready (RF11 and Bendix connectors with cable); 5) Internal modem ready; 6) GPS receiver with antenna and 75 feet of cable; 7) Must be compatible with existing system so that parts can be swapped from one instrument to another. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 5.302-1, the Government considers the item specified as a sole source from Kinnemetrics, Inc., Pasadena, California, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required supplies and services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration.
