This is a notice issued by Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to determine public interest in partnering for the further development of and in licensing the BioWave(TM) treated rubber technology. The BioWave(TM) process treats conventional crumb rubber with a two-stage method combining microbial oxidation and microwave energy. The resulting treated crumb rubber has the potential of being mixed with new tire rubber to create tires or with virgin rubber to create other rubber products, so that either resulting end product contains 20 percent or more recycled rubber. A patent is pending. Interested parties will be provided with a technology brief and instructions on applying for a license to this technology. A typical license agreement will contain license fees and running royalties. Responses to this notice must be received by July 21, 2000.
