received in response to solicitation number USMS-S-LRF-003, a combined
synopsis/solicitation posted on June 2, 2000. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
Q.What software environment is STARS created in? A. The i.e.FARS
software is generated by a software engineering tool known as "cool
gen." Q. How can we learn more about STARS functionality? A. Through
discussions with the Office of Finance staff. It supports budget
allocation, obligation, accounts payable, payments, adjusting entries
to general ledger and financial reporting. The full functional
requirements are established by the Joint Financial Management
Improvement Program (JFMIP). Q. Which ProCard software package do you
use? A. I'm unfamiliar with this term "ProCard". If you are taling
about the interface between Bank One purchase card and STARS, we are
looking at receiving a flat file from Bank One that would load into a
database. The database would be summarized and posted to STARS. Q. Are
you looking for an internet solution? A. No. Q. What is the schedule
for integration of STARS? A. We would like this completed ASAP. Q. What
is ieFARS software? A. It is a proprietary client-server software that
operates within an Informix bdms environment. Q. What is FMS? A. FMS
is a separate accounting system that supports the districts. The only
relationship with STARS is that FMS feeds financial data to STARS
monthly. Q. What format is weekly data received from NFC? A. ASCI file.
Q. What is a USMS-7 systems database? A. The USMS-7 database contains
all of the accounting and statistical detail for time charged by
employees and personal service guards paid via NFC. Q. Project is
currently sized at 750 hours per quarter -- Can we see details on how
this was determined? A. Scaled on the available hours for 2 employees
working full time for the USMS to accomplish assigned tasks. Posted
