The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Mozambique is seeking expressions of interest for professional engineering services in the road transport sector. The purpose is to identify firms that have interest in construction management services, including design review, for the rehabilitation of flood damaged rural highways in south and central Mozambique. The period of services is anticipated to be from about August 2000 for a period of about 24 months. The estimated value of construction is between $20 million and $30 million. Procurement of services will be contingent upon availability of funds. Responses from interested firms should include references to rural highway experience, Southern Africa road sector experience and established presence or association in Southern Africa and Mozambique in particular. These will be considered positive factors in the compilation of a preliminary short list derived from the responses to this solicitation.
