modification to the previously submitted notice of May 24, 2000, and
also serves as the second presolicitation notice for the subject
project. The successful contractor shall furnish all labor, material
and equipment necessary to furnish and install a new, reinforced
concrete foundation and floor slab for a shop building, reinforced
concrete floor slab and stemwalls for a quonset building, and a
reinforced concrete floor slab for a metal shed and vault fuel tank.
The size of the foundation for the shop building and the quonset
building is approximately 40 feet x 60 feet. The size of the concrete
pad for the metal shed is approximately 14 feet 6 inches x 18 feet 8
inches, and the size of the concrete pad for the vault fuel tank is
approximately 6 feet 3 inches x 11 feet 6 inches. The contractor shall
field verify all dimensions prior to construction, and verify the
location of the utilities in the shop building. Work includes clearing,
excavation, backfill, compaction, dewatering, water and sanitary sewer
rough-in and grading necessary to complete the project. The Government
shall stake the location of the shop building, quonset building, metal
shed and vault fuel tank. The sequence of construction shall be as
follows: The contractor shall construct the stemwalls and floor slab
for the quonset building first; the Government shall install the
quonset building onto the stemwalls; the contractor shall place
concrete to embed the quonset building walls in place in accordance
with contract documents; the contractor may sequence the remainder of
the work in accordance with the contract documents. The project is
located at the Lake Alice National Wildlife Refuge, in Towner County,
North Dakota. Davis-Bacon payrolls will be required. The Government
Estimate is between $100,000 and $250,000. This project is open to both
large and small businesses pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The period of performance is 45
calendar days after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Bid, payment and
performance bonds are required -- 20 % of the bid price for the bid
bond; 50 % of the bid price for the payment bond and 100 % of the bid
price for the performance bond. Payment and performance bonds are only
required of the successful contractor after receipt of award. The
solicitation is expected to be issued on or about July 3, 2000.
