wayne.calabretta@iews.monmouth.army.mil. The United States Army
Communications and Electronics Command (USACECOM) Acquisition Center
and PM Combat Identification (PM CI) are seeking sources for a laser
interrogation/RF response Combat Identification System that may be
mounted on small arms (e.g. M16, M4, M249, M240) for use by dismounted
infantry soldiers. Interrogations should be based on a laser query
that can be initiated by the individual soldier while aiming at a
potential target. In case the target is friendly and equipped with the
responding subsystem, the querying soldier must be notified by optical
and/or acoustic means. The response should be based on RF. Given an
unobstructed line of sight and weather conditions permitting seven (7)
kilometers visibility, the system should provide the following
probabilities of correct identification (PcId); Within a range from 5
m up to 500 m, PcId should be 0.975 between prone soldiers. Between
standing soldiers, PcId should be 0.95 within a range from 500 m to
1000 m. This is a market survey requesting information only. No
solicitation will be issued against this notice. If there is any
resultant solicitation, it will be publicized in accordance with FAR
Part 5. This survey is also issued in accordance with the requirements

procurement decision. Responses are only being sought from sources with
existing hardware or in the process of developing hardware; paper
designs are not being considered at this time. Interested sources with
