Request for Information/Wireless Cellular Telephone Service. The
Department of Treasury, Procurement Services Division, is requesting
information and comments from the communications systems industry
regarding the ability and interest in supplying commercial wireless
cellular and cellular type communications equipment and services that:
(1) meets the requirements of the Treasury Department and its Bureaus;
(2) would provide a usage based service to the Department and its
Bureaus; (3) would provide nationwide, regional, local and
international cellular telephone service coverage to Treasury. The
potential number of Treasury users of this service is estimated at
50,000 to 70,000 employees. Treasury is interested in obtaining two
types of information through this request. First, determining the level
of interest in the proposed arrangement from among the subject
industry. Those companies interested in proposing business solutions
are requested to address, but not limited to, the following; billing
management, description of services provided, coverage area(s),
technological refresh/security, systems management, and any other
aspects relevant to their view. Second, these companies are encouraged
to suggest multiple business solutions for wireless cellular telephone
communication needs. The Department is interested in coverage area
provided and a list of reciprocal agreements established. Responses to
the RFI should be submitted in writing, in the format your company
chooses, to include a capability statement, by close of business on
June 30, 2000. Information considered to be Company Confidential or
