TGaither@cc.nih.gov. The Clinical Center of the National Institutes of
Health, Bethesda, Maryland Campus, has a requirement to provide the
school-age patient with a substitute educational process while
hospitalized at the NIH Clinical Center. The primary goal of the NIH
School Program is to provide teachers/tutors for elementary, secondary,
special education, and foreign language (as needed) students, and to
maintain continuity in service and delivery between the hospital and
the home school in order that patients can have a normal school year
despite their medical problems. The successful offeror shall be
required to provide a full-time coordinating teacher to over-see the
NIH School Program; provide licensed, certified (State of Maryland)
teachers/tutors; provide supplies essential to meet all the needs of
the student population, kindergarten through 12th grade, including
current/latest edition textbooks, reference books, grade appropriate
writing and art paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, and all
materials needed in the instructional and use of mathematics, science,
English, and social studies; provide certified teachers/tutors able to
meet the needs of students who use English as a Second Other Language
(ESOL), and patients requesting Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED). All
teaching/tutoring services shall conform to the standards of the
Maryland State Board of Education and be provided as requested by the
NIH Clinical Center between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The period of
performance for this requirement shall be for a period of one (1) year,
with nine (9) successive one year option periods. The solicitation will
be issued on or about July 5, 2000 with a closing date approximately 30
days after issue. Requests for solicitations must be submitted in
writing via mail, FAX, or E-Mail. No telephone requests will be
accepted. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be
considered. The Government will not pay for preparation or submission
of anyinformation submitted in response to this synopsis. Posted
