Varga-Sinka, Contract Specialist, Facilities, Commodities, Construction & Equipment, 770-488-2619 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates an award for the replacement of two (2) 13,900 CFM Air Handling Units that will serve two (2) laboratory banks of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), 5555 Ridge Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio. This project will require special trade in SIC 1711 with a size standard of $7.0. The units will be air cooled, new digital controls and programming to the Johnson Metasys Energy Management System. The project will also include the removal of two (2) 3 ton and one 1 ton unit, new double duct boxes, ductwork, insulation, diffusers, and ceiling work in each of these zones. These laboratories are general chemistry and biological facilities and are not high containment. The facility is a two (2) story 140,000 Sq. ft. structure, and the lab area is approximately 12,000 sq. ft., located on the ground level (top floor). The units will be custom built to be supported by existing structural bracing due to a new roof warrantied has recently been installed. The magnitude of construction estimate per FAR 36.204 is between $500,000.00 and $ 1,000,000. This will be a 180 calendar day project, with a scheduled Bid Opening date of August 31, 2000.
