for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart
12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this
notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, proposals
are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.
This solicitation is being issued as a request for quotations
(RML-RFQ-010). The solicitation documents and incorporated provisions
and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular
97-17 (through 04/25/2000). This acquisition will be processed under
Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is not a Small Business
Set-Aside. The associated Standards Industrial Classification Code
(SIC) for this procurement is 2835 and the size standard is 500
employees. SCHEDULE: The Rocky Mountain Laboratories, Laboratory of
Human Bacterial Pathogenesis (LHBP) proposes to procure: a complete
oligonucleotide primer set specific for every open reading frame (ORF)
of the Staphylococcus aureus genome from Sigma Genosys, 1442 Lake
Front Circle, The Woodlands, TX, 77380. This primer set will consist of
6,000 primers for 3,000 ORFs. The primers shall be produced with the
following features: (1) they shall be synthesized and aliquoted into 96
well format at 20 mM concentrations in water; (2) the forward and
reverse primers for any gene shall be placed in different plates but in
corresponding wells on those plates; (3) the first 2- 4 plates of
primers shall be shipped within 3-5 days and 2-4 plates every day after
that until the order is completed. 3,000 ORFs have been identified
requiring 6,000 primers of 27 nucleotides in length. These primers will
be used to amplify every gene of the S. aureus genome. Once amplified,
these gene segments will be used to construct a DNA Microarray.
Microarray analysis will be used to identify S. aureus genes that
enable survival of the bacteria in the human host and contribute to
pathogenesis in general. This will indicate genes which represent
suitable targets for alternative therapies to staphylococcal
infections. FOB Point shall be Destination, Hamilton, MT. Inside
delivery shall be no more than 30 days after receipt of order (ARO).
Delivery location is Rocky Mountain Laboratories, 903 S. 4th Street,
Hamilton, MT. Sigma Genosys is the only company capable of performing
the requirements in these volumes within the time frame required. The
following FAR provisions and clauses apply to this acquisition:

clauses of subpart (b), which apply, are 6 and 10. Copies of the
above-referenced clauses are available upon request, either by
telephone or fax. This is not a solicitation for competitive proposals.
However, if any other interested party believes that it can meet the
requirements it may submit a statement of capabilities to the POC
indicated above (Fax -- 406-363-9288). Capability statements and
related materials must be received in this office no later than 4:30 PM
