S -- - INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH THE PACIFIC/NORTHWEST GIGAPOP, U OF WASHINGTON. Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Pacific/Northwest Gigapop (P/NWGP)/University of Washington (UW) for the Pacific Marine Environmental Lab(PMEL). Purpose of contract is to provide connectivity through the P/NWGP infrastructure to all other P/NW members (including PMEL) and the high-performance Abilene network. PMEL/NOAA is a participating agency in the City of Seattle inter-agency agreement for sharing fiber cable projects. The P/NWGP currently has dark fiber strands in place from the Pacific/Nortrhwest Gigapop in downtown Seattle directly to PMEL's location. Purpose of this procurement is to pay P/NWGP for high-performance connectivity service. Since P/NWGP only source that has dark fiber strands already in place, no other source is capable of providing this service.
