The Notice is issued under Request for Quotation (RFQ) number 919448, using Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is unrestricted. The standard Industrial Classification is 3826. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clause are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC)97-17. The requirement is for the D/Max-Rapid: Fast x-ray Diffractometer with area Detector plus training, installation, and warranty. Rigaku is the only manufacturer of the curved image area detector. The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received within ten days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
