The Defense Supply Service-Washington, on behalf of the Headquaters, United States Army Materiel Command (USAMC), intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP). The Solicitation number is DASW01-00-R-3031. The proposed type contract is a Firm Fixed Price (FFP). This contract initiative will assist the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, U.S. Army Materiel Command in establishing a Center of Excellence in Logistics and Technology (LOGTECH). The contractor will conduct academic research and benchmarking, as well as develop case studies of private sector and military technology and logistics initiatives. The contractor is required to design curricula and conduct pilot courses for the training and development of logistics leaders; establish and maintain an internet web site and conduct a forum for state-of-the-art information exchange; and explore the development of an advanced-degree academic program specifically geared to Department of Defense requirements. LOGTECH is intended to leverage technology to accomplish the desired outcome. The expected release date of the RFP is on or about 30 Jun 2000. The contract will be awarded to the offeror whose proposal offers the Best Value to the Government. The contract will be for a one-year effort; however, if funding becomes available at a later date, the project may be extended as a follow-on contract for up to two (2) additional years.
