project involves the renovation of the west half of the third floor to
provide updated utilities and space for new operating rooms per the
appropriate new VA criteria. All asbestos and lead is to be removed and
utility services are to be aligned to the floor of service from a main
distribution point. Design shall incorporate features as provided by
VA Master Design Standards. Design shall allow for six operating rooms,
three sub-sterile rooms, three scrub rooms, clean work room, dirty work
room, sterile supply room, housekeeping closet, male and female
locker/dressing/bathrooms, employee lounge, holding room, PACU, small
conference/meeting room, five offices, clean storage room, and a dirty
linen/trash room, drinking fountains, etc. as the criteria requires.
Demolition should include removal of all interior walls with the
exception of the stairwells and utility chases. All work will be
located at the Veterans Affairs Medical & Regional Office Center,
Building 1, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. Thework shall include provision
of all labor, materials, equipment, tools and any other items necessary
to provide design and Industrial Hygiene services for a complete
interior renovation. All utility services will be demolished and
rebuilt into the new construction as well as all interior partitions
and other features that are existing that are not of a structural
nature. The building subsystems will include electrical systems,
(normal and emergency power and lights) and a system of conduits for
telephone as well as a system of conduits to connect the computer
system; new heating and cooling systems, fire detection system,
sprinkler system, nurse call, building energy management as well as
other standard architectural interior finishes. The construction range
is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Interested firms must submit an
SF 254 and 255 by COB July 20, 2000 to the Contracting Officer at the
Department of Veterans Affairs, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington,
Delaware 19805. All responsible sources may submittheir qualifications
which shall be considered. This project is subject to the availability
