will consist of placement of a marine mattress toe and graded riprap to
protect the underwater slope from approximately 100 feet east of the
lighthouse to 100 feet west of the lighthouse. The new riprap
protection will meet the existing revetment stone at approximately low
water (EL. -2+-) and continue down to elevations ranging from -30.0 to
-50.0. Repairs to the the south jetty will be bid as an otpion to the
construction contract. South jetty repairs will consist of excavating
an area approximately 30ft parallel to the jetty, on the land portion,
with a varying depth of 3 to 8 ft. (some areas below mean low water).
Waste matstone/corestone, from the original south jetty construction,
will be recovered from the excavated material. The recovered
matstone/corestone and a graded riprap will be placed in the voids
between the capstones to create a smooth surface on which a geotextile
will be placed. The remaining excavated material will be backfilled in
the excavation. Sand fill will then be placed to within one foot of the
top of the jetty and graded to meet existing ground. The sand will be
obtained from the required excavation of an upland pond adjacent to the
jetty. A rock dike will be constructed at the seaward end of the jetty
repair, through which pipes will be placed to convey surface water
from the ocean into the aforementioned pond. Solicitation documents
will be furnished on CD-ROM only; hard copies will not be available.
