The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a Verdi 10 watt laser system which meets the following specifications: 1)power greater 10 watts; 2) Wavelength 532 nanometers; 3) Noise less than 4 percent rms from 10 hertz to 1 gigahertz; 4) Linewidth less than 5 megahertz; 5) Power stability plus or minus 1 percent over 2 hours after a 15 minute warmup; 6) Pointing stability less than 5 micro rad/0C; 7) The most critical specification is Single Longitudinal Mode. Technical merit as well as price will be used to evaluate offers. As the technical merit becomes more equal, price becomes a greater factor.
