Janice M. Haake, (618) 229-9678 E-MAIL: Click here to contact the
contracting officer via, haakej@scott.disa.mil. The purpose of this
synopsis is to amend the combined synopsis/solicitation published in
the CBD 14 Jun 2000. This combined synopsis/solicitation is issued as
Amendment 0001 to solicitation DHQCNT00MPU0045. The purpose of this
amendment is to respond to questions and answers; revise the HP T600
Configuration and revise the Training criteria. Questions and answers
are as follows: QUESTION 1) Is there a reason that this solicitation
requires a specific brand name and model? There are numerous vendors
that can provide UNIX systems to meet the specific capacity and
technological requirements, for example Sun Microsystems or IBM. Please
let me know if alternative products are acceptable. RESPONSE: An HP
Solution is required. Provision of a HP platform will provide
continuity with equipment procured earlier for the DFAS Corporate
Information Initiative (DCII) and possibly other DFAS requirements. The
three COTS products (Veritas, Brio Workbench, and Merant Object COBOL)
included in the overall acquisition plan plus the various Oracle
software releases already obtained are specifically oriented for a HP
platform. Procurement of a non-HP platform will require modification to
the software acquisition plan. QUESTION 2) After reviewing the
solicitation, this vendor has determined that 2 parts are not required:
A3568A HP-PB Bus Converter and A1828A HP-PB I/O Expansion Module. In
fact, having these items in the configuration would leave you short one
HSC slot. Thus removing these 2 items would give you all that you need
in both HSC and HP-PB slots. RESPONSE: The Requiring Activity concurs
with removing the two HP-PB items. QUESTION 3) Do you mean training a
computer operator & system manager ? (because it says system
programmer). RESPONSE: Training regarding operations and technical
familiarization is intended for five or six system administrators at
the Requiring Activity location. QUESTION 4) How many people would you
like to have trained? RESPONSE: Five or six persons should be trained
by the vendor during the course of one full eight hour workday.
QUESTION 5) Could these people travel to the nearest HP facility for a
5 day HP-UX system administrator training class? RESPONSE: The
Requiring Activity will satisfy system administration training
requirements separate and apart from this procurement action. QUESTION
6) If you need to have training onsite, could we bid on the complete
solution with onsite installation and not the training? RESPONSE: The
extent of training included in the bid should be limited to the
operations and technical familiarization discussed in the response to
question #3. The configuration of the HP T600 is changed as follows:
QTY 1 HP T600 SYSTEM INCLUDES, DUAL I/O CHANNEL ADAPTER, LAN
PERSONALITY CARD, SCSI CARD, 16 PORT MUX; QTY 8 HP T600 PROCESSOR

Provide operations and technical familiarization of the equipment for
computer operators and system programmers. This should include training
on any unique features and functions that the proposed equipment (as
configured) is capable. Training should be for five or six people on
site. Expected duration is approximately eight hours. System
administration training will be accomplished under a separate
agreement. Quotes are due 4:00pm, CST, 28 Jun 2000. GSA schedule quotes
