Foreign Service Institute, plans to issue a solicitation to purchase a
digital language laboratory to service the needs of our foreign
language learners and teachers. The lab will be used to deliver both
teacher-guided and self-study language instruction in 63 languages.
Teachers and learners must be able to access audio and video files that
are resident on the media server, as well as computerized language
learning software to student and teacher stations for individual and
group access, to include single-user CD-Rom working over the network.
The lab that we purchase must support DVD MPEG-1 and .WAV files, as
well as other file formats that can be downloaded from the World Wide
Web. It must be capable of delivering video and audio simultaneously
from the media server to at least 28 stations; and the delivery of
these media files must be controlled by at least two teacher
