U. S. Coast Guard is considering whether or not to set-aside an
acquisition for HUBZone concerns only. The estimated magnitude of this
construction project is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. The
applicable Standard Industry Classification (SIC) Code for this
acquisition is 1542 and the small business size standard is $17
Million. The acquisition is for the Renovation & Additions to Bldg. 100
& VES Bldg. and Renovations to Bldg. 120 at the U. S. Coast Guard Base,
San Juan, Puerto Rico. The scope of the project for Bldg. 100 and VES
Bldg. is to construct a 16,800 GSF two story vessel electronics support
building and a 9,000 GSF two story addition to an existing 9,000 GSF
operations building and renovations of the existing operations building
following completion of the addition. The construction includes
demolition of three existing buildings and associated site work
including paving, utility connections and rerouting of existing
underground telecommunications. The scope of work forBuilding 120 is to
renovate the existing single story 8700 GSF storage and shop building
into a mercantile (exchange) and storage building. The construction
includes demolition of two existing buildings and associated site work
including paving and utility connections. At the present time, the
acquisition is expected to be issued under full and open competition
procedures. However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is
HUBZone certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition,
please respond by e-mail to rhsmith@fdcclant.uscg.mil. In your response
include: (a) a positive statement of your intention to submit a bid for
this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in
work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project
titles, dollar amounts, and points of contacts and telephone numbers;
and, (c) a positive statement of your remaining bonding capability.
Your response must be received by 07 July 2000. All of the above must
be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on
availability of interested HUBZone concerns. Failure to submit all
information requested may result in a contractor not being considered
as an interested HUBZone concern. A decision on whether this will be
pursued as a HUBZone small business set-aside or on an unrestricted
basis will be posted on Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site.
