The Office of Law Enforcement Technology Commercialization (OLETC), a program of the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), is initiating procedures to commercialize LifeLite, a unique dispatcher activated emergency locator device that was developed by a retired sheriff deputy. A U.S. Patent was issued for LifeLite in 1998. LifeLite will aid in positively identifying the location from which an emergency (9-1-1) call was initiated. It is the only emergency dispatcher activated locator system available. LifeLite consists of a small electronic switch that is connected to the telephone and a wireless transmitter that is connected to a high intensity outdoor strobe light. Only the dispatcher notifying the emergency responder of the exact location of the call can activate, and de-activate, the outdoor strobe light. This is an announcement concerning a commercialization partner meeting for this technology at the OLETC office in Wheeling, WV, on July 27, 2000. OLETC is seeking a commercialization partner to license or purchase this technology to bring it to market. The meeting will include an overview and demonstration of LifeLite, as well as a review of relevant market data. Time will be allotted in the afternoon for individual meetings between interested parties and LifeLite representatives. Private sessions can be scheduled upon registration or in person on the day of the event. The deadline for registration is July 10, 2000. Any person or organization that has an interest to license, purchase, or commercialize this emerging technology, should contact OLETC at the following address: OLETC Attention: Robin Lotz, Market Research Analyst 316 Washington Ave Wheeling, WV 26003 Telephone: 888-306-5382 FAX: 304-243-2131 rlotz@nttc.edu More details, including on-line registration, are available from the following web site: www.oletc.org Posted 06/22/00 (W-SN467644).
