The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with InvenCom, L.L.C/Invencom Technologies, Charlotte, N.C. the requirement for a Propulsion Demonstration known as Liquid Ejection Actuation Device (LEAD) for the U. S. Marine Corps' Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (SMAW). This acquisition is for a one time effort for the developing contractor to modify and demonstrate an existing proprietary technology utilizing the existing MK 153 SMAW Launcher which will allow the SMAW to be fired from an enclosure. The propulsion technology known as LEAD has been scaled and refined from previously developed technology being utilized by InvenCom. The solicitation number is N00178-00-R-1065. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued approximately 29 June 2000 with a projected closing date of 31 July 2000.
