The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) wishes to identify potential sources to perform repair and/or replacement of elevators at the NIST Gaithersburg, Maryland facility. NIST is considering developing a multi-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for elevator repair/replacement. Potential interested offerors would pre-price labor and materials for the various elevator components required, via a unit price schedule incorporated into the anticipated IDIQ contract. After award of an IDIQ contract, NIST would furnish detailed elevator plans indicating the various components requiring replacement in each elevator. The Contractor to whom the IDIQ will have been awarded would then complete the unit price schedule, including all the components potentially requiring replacement. The Government anticipates providing a minimum guaranteed amount of $5,000 over the life of the contract, and a maximum IDIQ contract amount of $4,000,000. Currently, NIST has over nine (9) passenger and nine (9) freight elevators under review for repair and replacement. NIST anticipates repairing and/or replacing one to several elevators per year, under the proposed IDIQ elevator contract. NOTE: NIST performs all of its maintenance "in-house"; therefore, the likelihood of any long-term maintenance of installed equipment is extremely small.
