The Environmental Protection Agency's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (EPA/NRMRL) has a requirement for a contractor to design, build, and install an Air Pollution Control System (APCS) in the permitted Hazardous Waste Incineration Research Facility, operated by NRMRL's Air Pollution Prevention and Control Division (APPCD) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The APCS will collect or destroy pollutants generated by four research combustors used by the facility. The major components of the APCS are 1) A natural gas-fired afterburner, which is used to destroy/oxidize compounds generated during research testing 2) A flue gas quench system used to cool the gas to a temperature that the downstream equipment can handle; 3) A fabric filter (baghouse) used to remove 99% of any solid particles that have been produced by the research combustors and afterburner; and 4) An acid gas scrubber used to remove 95% of acid gases generated in the research combustors and afterburner. Interested parties are requested to submit to the Contracting Officer a capability statement that includes: (1) Name of firm, mailing address, point of contact's phone number and e-mail address. (2) Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code that best describes the firm's business and whether the firm is a large or small business under that code. (3) Whether the firm is a small disadvantaged business and/or woman-owned business. (4) A brief statement of experience/qualifications to design, build, and install an Air Pollution Control System. The draft Statement of Work/specifications will be posted to the following website no later than June 30, 2000: http://www.epa.gov/oam/cinn_cmd/ Comments on the document are requested to be sent to the Contracting Officer.
