COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 27,2000 PSA#2630U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Contracts Unit, 100 Alabama
Strteet, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 B -- RETAIN/PROCURE SERVICES OF LABORATORY TO CONDUCT ANALYTICAL
ANALYSIS ON WATER SOL 00-00024 DUE 063000 POC James B. Gandy, (404)
562-8376. The objective of this request is to retain/procure the
services of laboratory or vendor to conduct analytical analysis on
water samples to determine the Argon to Krypton ratio of gas within the
aqueous sample. EPA is constantly trying to improve the accuracy of its
modeling programs and their input parameters. One of the input
parameters for waste load allocation water quality modeling is the
reaeration rate coefficient for the water body of interest. Sensitivity
analysis typically defines reaeration as an input of significant
importance. Reaeration rate coefficients are normally estimated using
emperial equations not directly measured. This new technique allows for
an actual measurement of the oxygen transferred whether than an
estimate. The contractor shall analyze water quality samples collected
by EPA staff to determine the gaseous krypton to argon ratio in an
aqueous solution. The contractor shall utilize the analytical method
developed under separate grant with EPA (USAEPA Assistance ID No.
x-816988). Samples shall be analyzed within six weeks of delivery.
Progress report on data results and financial costs shall be furnished
with the completion of each individual stream/estuary project. Reports
shall be submitted to the EPA, SESD technical contract within two weeks
of completing the sample analysis. This resulting award will be on a
purchase order, this is a sole source procurement. Posted 06/23/00
