Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to perform various
repairs to Pier #101 at the former U.S. Coast Guard Facility on
Governors Island, New York City. The work includes but is not limited
to replacing fender piles, chocks, wales, spacers, camel and ladder as
well as repairing approximately 300 square feet of spalled concrete
and miscellaneous associated work. A one time Group Pre-Bid Site Visit
will be held on 26 July 2000 at 10 AM. Further details are contained
in the solicitation. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant
to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is
open to both large and small business participation and is estimated
between $100,000 and $250,000. The applicable SIC Code is 1623. The
tentative date for receipt of bids is 15 August 2000. Bid packages will
be available on or about 11 July 2000 at a non-refundable charge of
$25. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to
Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly
Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard.
For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the
Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority,
women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short
term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related
contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at
any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply
for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract.
The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further
