(301) 757-5932 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) proposes to
procure approximately 42 Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability
(TAMMAC) Advanced Memory Units (AMU) with Mounting Plates and
approximately 126 PCMCIA Mission cards, 84 PCMCIA Maintenance cards and
18 PCMCIA Map cards. The acquisition will include engineering
investigations, evaluations and studies involving the TAMMAC system.
The contract will be awarded on a sole source negotiated basis to
Smiths Industries (SI), Information Management Systems of Grand Rapids,
MI 49512-1991 and will consist of a base year and two option years. The
options will include approximately 84 AMU systems with Mounting Plates
and approximately 252 PCMCIA Mission cards, 168 PCMCIA Maintenance
cards and 54 PCMCIA Map cards. The contract is anticipated to be
awarded by March 2001. SI is the sole designer, developer and supplier
of the AMU, its Mounting Plate and the PCMCIA cards and is the only
company with the necessary technical data. SI is the only source able
to satisfy thegovernment's requirements for TAMMAC AMU production
installations in F/A-18, H-1, and CH-60 aircraft. Delivery is required
to be FOB destination to the aircraft manufacturer and is to commence
in March 2002. The PCMCIA Mission/Maintenance/Map cards will be sent
to the squadron receiving the aircraft. The production of the supplies
listed requires a substantial initial investment or an extended period
