notice is AS FOLLOWS: The U.S Department of Justice, Immigration &
Naturalization Service is seeking test samples and information from
potential sources for a all-purpose Rescue/Law Enforcement knife that
would perform as a screwdriver, the all purpose Rescue/Law Enforcement
knife is to be used by US Border Patrol Agents. This request is for
information for the purpose of establishing a list of U.S Department of
Justine, Immigration & Naturalization Service approved items for
possible future procurement. Inclusion on this list in no way
guarantees any future procurement. Submitted all-purpose Rescue/Law
Enforcement knife shall have seat belt cutter, and screwdriver and a
drop-point blade not serrated with metal pocket clip. No sheath with
rubberized handle for sure grip, and safety tool, the Drop point blade
will be etched with the Border Patrol logo. It shall be made of
quality materials that make item durable enough to prevent breaking,
chipping, or bending while performing egress or survival functions
after prolonged use. The knife should be corrosion resistant. It shall
be safe for stowage (no inadvertent contact), access, and use. The
knife's exterior should be non-reflective and have color that prevents
easy detection. It should be easy to maintain with limited support
equipment. Companies responding to this request should submit two
samples (both samples will be used for tests and evaluation and will
not be returned), documentation detailing knife specifications, and
ordering information including an estimated cost per knife to Mr.

constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP) nor does the Government intend
to pay for any information / items submitted in response to this
synopsis. Responses should be submitted by 31 July 2000 and reference
this synopsis number on both the packages as well as on all enclosed
documents. This synopsis does not commit the Government to award a
