16 -- THIN-PACK SEALING TECHNOLOGY FOR ESCAPE PARACHUTE SOL N68936-00-G-0001/0008 DUE 072600 POC William T Monckton, Contract Specialist, (760) 939-8234 or Dell Hledik, Contracting Officer, (760) 939-3772 Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), China Lake, CA intends to negotiate on an other-than-competitive basis with SEI, Asheville, NC for support in applying Thin-Pack Lightweight Environmentally Sealed Parachute Assembly (LESPA) technology to existing ejection seat parachute canopies. The solicitation/order (Order 0008) will be issued under Basic Ordering Agreement N68936-00-G-0001 with SEI for Thin-Pack Parachute (TPP) systems, components, related assemblies, engineering/logistical support and other services. Proposed Order type: Cost Plus Fixed Fee. The planned support includes the application of Thin-Pack/LESPA technology in the packing of NACES and A/P28S-28 ejection seat canopies. In addition, the support to be provided may include 1) requirements definition, 2) design documentation, 3) manufacture and modification of test assets, and 4) test and evaluation support (including test planning support and repairing, repacking, and resealing of sealed assemblies). SEI is the only source producing Thin-Pack Parachute Systems using the Thin-Pack/Lightweight Environmentally Sealed Parachute Assembly (LESPA) technology. Thin-Pack Parachute drawing packages and associated packing, sealing, and closing processes have proprietary markings, making required design and maintenance information unreleasable. Estimate award date: 14 August 2000. Anticipated period of performance will be for 12 months from date of award. Place of performance: contractor's facility Asheville, NC. FOB Destination.
