The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division intends on acquiring for Device 2F168 Serial Number 1 one Terrain Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) kit, one Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) kit, one ARC-210 kit, and engineering support for Government integration of the kits and the C-2A Flight Improvement Program. The estimated delivery date of the kits to the Navy Air Station Norfolk, VA is June 2002. The engineering support is expected to be performed on an intermittent basis through December 2002. As the Government does not and will not timely possess an accepted and validated technical data package to pursue a competitive acquisition strategy, it intends on pursuing a sole-source acquisition strategy to Aero Simulation, Inc., Tampa, FL. Aero Simulation, Inc. is currently tasked under contract N61339-00-C-0038 to design, develop and fabricate a C-2A Operational Flight Trainer (Device 2F168 Serial Number 2) which is a follow-on to Device 2F168 Serial Number 1. However, the Device 2F168 Serial Number 2 tasking is inclusive of the design, development and integration of the TCAS, TAWS and ARC-210 kits and the C-2A Flight Improvement Program whereas the Device 2F168 Serial Number 1 tasking does not possess these enhancements.
