Commerce/NOAA/Marine Sanctuaries Division intends to negotiate on a
sole source with East Carolina University, Greenville, N. C. to conduct
a remote sensing survey for historic shipwrecks in the Olympic Coast
National Marine Sanctuary. The National Marine Sanctuaries Program
conducts these surveys to comply with the mandates of the National
Historic Preservation Act which requires federal agencies managing
public lands to survey and inventory those lands for historic and
archaeological resources. The survey will be conducted by magnetometer
and side scan sonar survey of the Destruction Island region for the
purpose of locating eleven shipwrecks identified as lost by NOAA and
OCNMS in the general survey area, as well as any unknown shipwrecks in
the area. This is a notice of intent and cannot be considered a
solicitation, therefore no solicitation package exist. Award will be
