Karen Goodell, Contracting Officer, 402-449-0613 The Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, intends to procure
all necessary equipment and labor to install fiber optic cable and 4
inch conduit as shown on the drawings and specifications. This
procurement is intended as sole source procurement from US West, Omaha,
Nebraska. Contractor will provide all necessary labor, tools necessary
to provide and install fiber optic cable and pull fiber optic cable
through subcontractor provided 4-inch conduits and make connections. US
West will subcontract the furnishing, installation and connection of
conduit, fittings, and boxes to form complete, coordinated raceway
systems. Contractor will subcontract the portion of the scope of work
to install an empty 4-inch conduit (PVC or steel) from Center Street to
Building 1 by the smoking shelter and continuing it from that point to
the telephone room using 4 inch PVC conduit. A second run of 4-inch
conduit will be installed from Woolworth Avenue to Building 1 which
will terminate in the telephone room. There will be a new precast
handhole provided by contractor at the Woolworth Avenue and Center
Street ends of the runs to terminate the conduits. It is required that
the conduits be bored to minimize impact of ground disturbance and
utility disruptions. The work consists of boring and installing the
4-inch conduits, providing and installing the handholes, installing the
4-inch PVC conduit. Work is also required to restore any damaged grass
areas and ceiling tile to conditions existing before construction. All
conduit work must be completed by August 1, 2000. This acquisition will
be conducted under FAR Part 12 for commercial services. RFQ No.
636-32-00 has been assigned to this solicitation and is available June
26, 2000. SIC Code No. 3669, Communications Equipment, and N.E.C.,
with a size standard of 750 employees will be used. All requests for
