COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 29,2000 PSA#2632ALUMINUM HEAT TREAT FACILITIES AVAILABILITY Tobyhanna Army Depot is
offering to provide the services of its on-site aluminum heat treat
facility on a reimbursable basis to interested customers. The services
are available to other government agencies, or to private concerns
whose programs qualify for participation under statutory authority for
direct sales 4543 or partnering with industry 2208j. The facility
provides a heat-treating process for Annealing/Hardening aluminum
parts. Tobyhanna Army Depot's aluminum heat treating system is a custom
designed, automated system. It consists of two ovens, a high
temperature drop bottom oven, which operates from 600 to 1150 degrees
Fahrenheit and a low temperature side entry oven, which operates from
200 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Also included with the System is a
mobile quick-quench-cooling tank and a computer controlled control
system, which is capable of auto start/stop and complete automation of
the entire heat treating cycle. The system treats the aluminum alloy
by annealing (softening) or hardening the metal. Heat treating aluminum
improves its mechanical properties (such as tensile strength, hardness
and service life) and it facilitates the cold forming of aluminum
alloys and reduces waste and cracking of alloys not designed to be
formed without prior annealing. The system has a load rack size of 4'
x 4' x 4', with a maximum load of 200 pounds. The system has a 150 kW
Solution heat treat furnace with a 51 kW age hardening oven. The
quenchant solution is type I polyoxethylene glycol (28%) and water
(72%) by volume. The quenchant solution and auto rinse system produces
hardened parts with minimum warp. Agencies or concerns who may be
interested in obtaining these services should contact Mr. James
Bochicchio @ 570-895-7429. Posted 06/27/00 (W-SN469087). Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0481 20000629\SP-0009.MSC)
