Washington, DC 20310-5200 A -- FEDERAL PROCUREMENT DATA SYSTEM REENGINEERING MARKET
RESEARCH/INDUSTRY FORUM DUE 070700 POC Tonya Frederick at 703 614-7041
PART: SPECIAL NOTICES SUBJECT: FEDERAL PROCUREMENT DATA SYSTEM
REENGINEERING MARKET RESEARCH/INDUSTRY FORUM The Office of Federal
Procurement Policy, the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense
(Acquisition Reform) and the General Services Administration, have
jointly sponsored and chartered an initiative to identify an acceptable
strategic model for the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS). Public
Law 93-400 established the FPDS for collecting, developing, and
disseminating procurement data. Taking a leadership role in modernizing
the FPDS, the Procurement Executives Council (PEC) is seeking
information on available performance solutions on how best to create a
system with enabling technologies that will provide easily accessible
and accurate data, as well as a management tool integrated with the
procurement business process. The Government is seeking creative
solutions which may include public/private partnerships, acquisition of
services instead of equipment, acquisition of a commercial or
customized system(s), or any other alternatives that will achieve the
Government's performance and results goals and achieve significant
reductions in both operating costs and data collection cycle time. All
interested parties are invited to participate in a public forum to
discuss the Government's informational and operational needs. The forum
will be held on July 10, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at the
General Services Administration (GSA) Auditorium, 18th and F Streets,
Washington D.C. To facilitate and stimulate the discussion,
information regarding the FPDS re-engineering initiative and draft
operational needs and background data will be available on or about
June 28, 2000, at the Department of Defense Commercial Business
Environment website at www.acq.osd.mil/ar/cmc/. Comments, questions,
and/or issues concerning these materials should be submitted to the web
address NLT July 7, 2000. Attendees should register at the above
website address by July 7, 2000. Contact Tonya Frederick at 703
614-7041 should you have questions. The Government does not intend to
award a contract on the basis of this notification or otherwise pay for
any written information received in response to this request. Posted
