solicitation. This is a Request for Information (RFI); neither draft
statement of work nor specifications are available. The information
received will be used as part of a market survey. The U.S. Geological
Survey (USGS) is interested in knowing if any GSA schedule vendors can
provide technical support services in five (5) major service areas
under their GSA schedule. The USGS, Biological Resources Division, has
a mission to work with others to provide the scientific understanding
and technologies needed to support sound management and conservation
of our Nation's biological resources. In order to meet this mission the
USGS has a need for technical support contractors who are capable of
providing technical support services in the following five (5) major
service areas: (1) Program Management and Administration, (2)
Biological/Ecological Research with emphasis on Animal Ecology and
Physiology, Aquatic Ecology, Seagrass Community Ecology, Forested
Wetland Ecology/Restoration, Ecological and Landscape Modeling,
Landscape Ecology/Restoration, Coastal and Estuarine Wetland Ecology,
Management and Restoration, Plant Ecology and Physiology, Avian
Population Ecology, Population Dynamics and Monitoring, Fish and
Aquatic Organism Population Ecology and Population Dynamics, Applied
Statistics and Statistical Modeling, Contaminants, Survey
Methods/Analysis/, Experimental Animal Ecology and Physiology, Wildlife
Biology,Veterinary Medicine,Botany, Chemistry, Dendroecology, Molecular
Genetics, Hydrology, Limnology, Microbiology and Microbial Ecology,
Zoology, Histology,Virology, Bacteriology, Bioengineering; (3)
Information and Technology Transfer: Writing, Editorial, and Graphics
Services, Outreach, Education and Visitor Services, Research Library
Support and Information Services, (4) Information Resources Management:
Computer Systems Administration, Operations and Maintenance, Scientific
and Administrative Database Information Management System/Network
Administration, Telecommunications Specialists, and Help Desk
Representative, Computer Software Applications and Training, Database
Administrators, Web Specialists, (5) Spatial Analysis, Data Base
Development, and Mapping: Modeling and Decision Support Systems Remote
Sensing Technologies -- Satellite and Aerial Sensors, Aerial
Photography, GIS Operations, Technologies, Training, Map Preparation
and Production (Cartography Services and Habitat Maps),and Data Entry.
The USGS wishes to use vendors who are listed on one of more GSA
Federal Supply Schedules for these areas of technical expertise listed
above to meet its requirements. The USGS may award a Blanket Purchase
Agreement to one vendor, or use a teaming arrangement for a
requirement that crosses more than one service area, or award a BPA for
each service area. All vendors who are on a GSA schedule(s) should
submit a capability statement and state the GSA schedule number (s). No
contract will be awarded as a result of this announcement. Any
subsequent solicitation will be synopsized prior to its release. The
Government will not pay for information provided in response to this
synopsis. Interested vendors should respond to this announcement by
