CONTRACTING: Mr. John Pfender at (812) 854-5198, COORDINATION: Mr.
Bobby Just at (812) 854-5197 DESCRIPTION: The Navy, on behalf of the US
Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Special Operations Peculiar
Modification (SOPMOD) Program is issuing this Request for Information
(RFI). SOPMOD is presently conducting a market survey. Sources are
sought that can provide Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) individual
grenade launchers that attach to M4/M16 series weapons to meet future
operational requirements of USSOCOM Special Operations combatants. The
SOPMOD Program is not seeking alternative sources for the current
M203-series grenade launchers, rather is interested in COTS grenade
launchers that show demonstrable improvements over the current
M203-series grenade launchers in reliability, durability, ergonomics,
lower weight/length, use of specialized munitions, stand-alone
capability and increased combat capabilities in general. Potential
vendors are encouraged to plan and participate in a live-fire
demonstration of their respective systems on or about September 2000.
The intent of this demonstration is to provide selected Special
Operations combatants the opportunity to develop a specification for a
possible future grenade launcher acquisition, should substantial
increased capabilities be demonstrated. The government may be
interested in purchasing product samples of certain grenade launchers.
Interested vendors will provide the cost of one grenade launcher
system to Mr. John Pfender at (812) 854-5198, FAX 812-854-5095, not
later than 15 July 2000, and will contact Mr. Bobby Just at (812)
854-5197 not later than 30 July 2000 to receive final planning dates
and information for the live-fire demonstration. This notice does not
constitute an invitation for Bids or a request for Proposal (RFP) and
it is not a commitment by the SOPMOD Program to procure subject
equipment. No solicitation document exists at this time. THE GOVERNMENT
DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR
INFORMATIONOR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. Posted
