USCG MLCP in Alameda, CA, proposes to contract for the Drydock and
Repair of the USCGC KISKA (WPB 1336) in the State of Hawaii. Work will
begin on 10 October 2000 and complete on 1 December 2000. Anticipated
work items include: underwater body hull plating inspection; exhaust
port hull plating replacement and MDE slow speed exhaust piping
renewal; clean and inspect tanks; propulsion shafts replacement;
propeller cleaning and inspection; exhaust diffuser inspect and clean;
critical motors renewal; electric meter, tachometer, pressure gauges
and thermometer calibration; vent piping modifications; ventilation
modifications; vent fans and motor overhaul; sea strainer overhaul; sea
valve renewal and overhaul; steering gear hydraulic overhaul; rudder
stock & liners inspect and repair; fin stabilizer system overhaul;
warping capstan inspect/repair; single point davit inspect and test;
sewage and grey water piping clean and inspect; grey water holding
tank(s) clean & inspect; sewage holding tank clean & inspect; potable
water tank preservation; battery space bilge preservation; forepeak
compartment preservation; rudder preservation (100%); underwater body
preservation (partial); deck covering replacement/repair. On 10 Jul
2000 an Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued in accordance with
Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program. For Women-owned and
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, the Department of Transportation
(DOT) Minority, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization
has program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged
enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime interest rates to
provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is
