Alaska is conducting a review of potential contractor services for
performance of the Directorate of Community Activity Services at the US
Army garrison. Programs and facilities are geographically located on
Fort Wainwright adjacent to Fairbanks, Alaska. The major functional
area under consideration is the Nugget Lanes Bowling Alley. The purpose
of this notice is to identify and establish initial interest from the
vendor community. Responses are for planning purposes only. There is no
obligation on the part of the government to issue a formal solicitation
as a result of this request and participation in this effort is
strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the US
Government. Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing
lists, acquisition strategies, to include socioeconomic program support
and to help establish commercial practices available to the government.
Companies responding may indicate interest in one or both
functionalareas. Services are currently being performed by two (2) full
time and nineteen (19) flex time or part time seasonal Government
employees both appropriated and non-appropriated funded positions.
Nugget Lanes Bowling Alley: Hours of operation are Monday through
Thursday11AM to 10:00PM, Friday 11:00AM to 12:00PM, Saturday 12:00PM
to12:00AM, Sunday closed. Provides programs/services: Operate and
directly maintain bowling center with 32 lanes, pro shop, meeting room,
food service operation, rental lockers and "Cosmic Bowl"; use and
maintain Brunswick computerized bowling software; use and maintain
RECTRAC software for recording all revenue; provide bowl play in
support of intramural sports; prepare scheduling and execute league
play; perform repairs on bowling center equipment; provide snack bar
and alcohol sales; assist bowlers with lane operations; maintain lane
surfaces; provide bowling balls and shoes for rental; maintain and
update exterior sign; plan and direct marketing program; provide tours
of facility;provide statistical reports. Potential customers = 12,300.
Any responses to this notice should include the following information:

the company or its employees, CAGE code and/or tax ID number, and
business size category. The Standard Industrial Classification is 7933.
The standard size for small business is $5,000,000. Small businesses
will be expected to demonstrate experience in all areas and good past
performance. Interested parties should provide responses to the market
survey questionnaire that can be accessed on the U.S. Army Alaska,
Directorate of Contracting web site located at
http://www.usarak.army.mil/doc/, by 1 August 2000. All contractors who
provide goods/services to the Department of Defense must be registered
in the Central Contractor's Register (CCR). Award of a DOD contract for
solicitations issued after 31 May 98 will not be made unless the
