Alaska is conducting a review of potential contractor services for
performance of activities within the Directorate of Community Activity
Services at the US Army garrison. The major functional area program
under consideration are the Supply and Services Warehouse operations
located on Fort Richardson and Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The purpose of
this notice is to identify and establish initial interest from the
vendor community. Responses are for planning purposes only. There is no
obligation on the part of the government to issue a formal solicitation
as a result of this request and participation in this effort is
strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the US
Government. Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing
lists, acquisition strategies, to include socioeconomic program support
and to help establish commercial practices available to the government.
Companies responding may indicate interest in one or both functional
areas. Services are currently being performed by six (6) full time
Government employees (appropriated and non-appropriated funding).
Supply and Services Operations: The warehouses are open 5 days a week
from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Provides programs and services: Operate and
maintain DCA warehouse in Building 800 on Fort Richardson (60,000 SF)
also buildings 3030 and 1053 on Fort Wainwright (15,200 SF); provide
and document proper receipt, handling and delivery of materials
required by DCA activities including accountable appropriated and
non-appropriated property; provide technical inspection of turned-in
equipment; schedule and perform on-site inspections of accountable
fixed asset property; organize and store equipment and materials as
required for both appropriated and non-appropriated property; schedule,
organize and execute bid sales; provide routine preventative
maintenance for non-appropriated vehicles; operate, repair and maintain
a 10 ton truck, several light trucks and fork lifts; provide
snowplowing service for DCA facilities; serve as IMWRF property
manager; pickup and deliver U.S. Mail for DCA; assemble new equipment
received; deliver special orders offsite; pickup credit card purchases;
provide record keeping; ensure safe receipt, storage, movement and
issue of HAZMAT. Any responses to this notice should include the
following information: company name, point of contact, address,
telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, brief description of company
and capabilities, experience areas, size, history, awards or
certifications received by the company or its employees, CAGE code
and/or tax ID number, and business size category. The Standard
Industrial Classification is 8999. The standard size for small business
is $5,000,000. Small businesses will be expected to demonstrate
experience in all areas and good past performance. Interested parties
should provide responses to the market survey questionnaire that can be
accessed on the U.S. Army Alaska, Directorate of Contracting web site
located at http://www.usarak.army.mil/doc/, by 1 August 2000. All
contractors who provide goods/services to the Department of Defense
must be registered in the Central Contractor's Register (CCR). Award of
a DOD contract for solicitations issued after 31 May 98 will not be
made unless the contractor is registered in the CCR. You may register
