the US Army Alaska is conducting a review of potential contractor
services for performance of the Directorate of Community Activity
Services at the US Army garrison. The program and facilities under
consideration are located adjacent to Seward, Alaska. The major
functional area is the Seward Resort. The purpose of this notice is to
identify and establish initial interest from the vendor community.
Responses are for planning purposes only. There is no obligation on the
part of the government to issue a formal solicitation as a result of
this request and participation in this effort is strictly voluntary
with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the US Government.
Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing lists,
acquisition strategies, to include socioeconomic program support and to
help establish commercial practices available to the government.
Companies responding may indicate interest in one or both functional
areas. Services are currently being performed by Government employees
(appropriated and non-appropriated funding). Seward Resort: The resort
is open 7 days a week with varying hours primarily 11AM to 7PM.
Provides programs/services: 56 motel units, 12 townhouses,1 honeymoon
cabin, 40 RV hookup sites, 2 Yurts, 14 tent sites, guest services;
housekeeping; tour tickets; local sightseeing; snow machine rentals;
bicycling; fishing and hunting excursions; fish house for cleaning fish
and freezer service; flight-see; horseback packing trips; roads and
grounds maintenance; boat shop for repairing; bar and video game room.
Estimated yearly customers = 70,000. Any responses to this notice
should include the following information: company name, point of
contact, address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, brief
description of company and capabilities, experience areas, size,
history, awards or certifications received by the company or its
employees, CAGE code and/or tax ID number, and business size category.
The Standard Industrial Classification is 7032. The standard size for
small business is $5,000,000. Small businesses will be expected to
demonstrate experience in all areas and good past performance.
Interested parties should provide responses to the market survey
questionnaire that can be accessed on the U.S. Army Alaska, Directorate
of Contracting web site located at http://www.usarak.army.mil/doc/, by
1 August 2000. All contractors who provide goods/services to the
Department of Defense must be registered in the Central Contractor's
Register (CCR). Award of a DOD contract for solicitations issued after
31 May 98 will not be made unless the contractor is registered in the
