DESC: IAW AR 215-1.7-4 and 7-5 the U.S. Army Alaska is conducting a review of potential contractor services for performance of the Directorate of Community Activity Services at the US Army garrison. Programs and facilities are geographically dispersed between Fort Richardson, located in Anchorage, Alaska and Fort Wainwright located adjacent to Fairbanks, Alaska. The major functional areas under consideration include: Arts and Crafts; and Auto Shop. The purpose of this notice is to identify and establish initial interest from the vendor community. Responses are for planning purposes only. There is no obligation on the part of the government to issue a formal solicitation as a result of this request and participation in this effort is strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the US Government. Information may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing lists, acquisition strategies, to include socioeconomic program support and to help establish commercial practices available to the government. Companies responding may indicate interest in one or both functional areas. Services are currently being performed by Government employees (appropriated and nonappropriated funding). Arts and Crafts: The days of operation are Thursday and Friday 12PM to 9PM, Sat/Sun 10AM to 7:30PM; provides programs/services: technical expertise, advise, assistance, tools and equipment for craft projects, major programs in wood working, frame and ceramic shops, crafts resale operation, developing customer designs, construction and assimilation of ceramic, wood work and engraving/picture framing at customer request, conduct qualification and power tool safety classes, coordinate exhibits, displays, clinics, contests, classes and demonstrations at open houses and special promotional projects. Estimated yearly customers = 8,500. Auto Shop: The days of operation are Thursday, Friday, Sat/Sun; provides programs/services: self service auto major/minor repairs, conduct classes on various automotive repair skills, emission testing, auto reference library, tool room and issue to customers, temporary storage for customer vehicles, on-site generated hazardous waste disposal, diagnostic services, perform diagnostic and technical assistance or instruction to meet varied technical interests of authorized users, wrecker service, welding service, conduct proficiency tests for users proper and safe use of equipment.
