Kinemetrics Etna 3-channel digital accelerograph with "Caltech"
realtime option, internal 100Hz triaxial Episensor, 5MB flash memory
card, internal PCMCIA modem with connector, GPS with antenna and 75'
coax, quantity 32 each. Line Item 2: Kinemetrics K2 12-channel
accelerograph with "Caltech" realtime option, GPS with antenna and 75'
coax, internal PCMCIA modem, 20MB flash memory, quantity 3 each.
Delivery 60 days from date of award. The Government intends to award on
a sole source basis to Kinemetrics, Inc., Pasadena, CA, the only
responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy
agency requirements. The USGS will install the instruments in the San
Fernando Valley in an ongoing joint effort with California Institute of
Technology and California Division of Mines and Geology (TriNet) to
upgrade the National Strong Motion Program (NSMP) Seismic Network from
analog to digital "real-time" instrumentation. Kinemetrics Altus
series real-time strong-motion recorders have been installed in the
TriNet cooperative seismic network, and only Kinemetrics Altus
instruments are fully compatible with those instruments and with the
associated software developed by Caltech. Interested parties must
respond in writing within 15 days of publication of this synopsis,
clearly stating your ability to meet the above-stated requirements.
