COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 10,2000 PSA#2638U.S. NAVY THEATER BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE CONFERENCE The Deputy
Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Theater Combat Systems, with the
cooperation of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA)
Missile Defense Committee, would like to extend an invitation for you
and your staff to join us for a U.S. Navy Theater Ballistic Missile
Defense (TBMD) Conference on Wednesday, September 13, 2000. The
conference is focused on the theme: "Achieving Ballistic Missile
Defense." The objective of this conference is to review the Navy's
development and deployment plans and future opportunities aimed at
ensuring the Navy deploys an effective TBMD capability within the next
five years. The threat from theater-based ballistic missile attack is
real and growing daily. In an era where U.S. and Allied Forces are
often assigned roles as observers and peacekeepers, their presence is
not easily concealed. Enemy targeting of these forces is an unavoidable
reality. This is a day-long forum wherein senior U.S. government
officials and industry decision makers, who are further defining the
threat and developing counterstrategies, can exchange views. The
conference will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2000, at the
Kossiakoff Center of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics
Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. This one-day conference will feature
key Department of Defense leaders who are fielding and employing naval
tactical ballistic missile defense systems. This conference will be
unclassified. Your participation in this program is important as we
move towards "Achieving Ballistic Missile Defense." Registration may be
accomplished by mailing or faxing the registration form found in this
brochure, or through NDIA's web site at http://www.ndia.org. If you
