NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to procure additional hardware for a Vibration Monitoring System previously purchased, to replace the existing monitoring system in the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel and the 14x22 Wind Tunnel. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Bently-Nevada, Inc. which has provided on a NASA-wide effort currently in force, improved monitoring and failure prevention of NASA's wind tunnel drive systems. This announcement is for additional hardware for the wind tunnels. Under authority of FAR 6.302-1. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing or by fax to Ms. Susan McClain, NASA/LaRC, M/S 126, 9 Langley Blvd., Bldg. 1195A, Hampton, VA 23681; fax number 757-864-9775, no later than 4:00 p.m. local time on July 25, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
