The National Park Service, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, San Francisco, Ca on behalf of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is soliciting proposals from qualified business organizations to enter into a firm fixed price contract to remove historical artifacts from the tweendeck of the Historical Ship Balclutha; transport and store the artifacts in a provided warehouse; remove and dispose of the linoleum, cement and chicken wire covering of the tweendeck; and fabricate/install cargo battens and clips. It may be necessary to remove and replace some structures and appuntenances in order to successfully remove all of the artifacts, the largest of which is estimated to weigh between 2.5 and 3 tons. It will be necessary to tow the ship to the contractor's facility and that facility must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although most of the work is concentrated on the tweendeck, it may be necessary to perform some task in the lower hold, which is designated as lead hazard area.The awardee will be responsible for adhereing to all required safety precautions for working in a lead hazard area.
