The purpose of this project is to replace existing water, sewer, low pressure steam distribution, condensate return, and electrical utilities located within portions of the Fort Wainwright buried utilidor system. Utilities to be replaced include welded steam lines up to 12-inch diameter, welded condensate return lines to 6-inch diameter, waterlines and fire lines to 14-inch diameter, gravity sewer lines to 8-inch diameter, sewer force mains and a sewer lift station. The existing utilidors contain asbestos and are considered confined spaces requiring special safety considerations. The Basic Bid project scope provides for the replacement of a majority of those utilities within the existing utilidor system between Manhole 20-327A through Manhole 20-338, including various service laterals/connections and appurtenances. The project includes procurement options, which provide for the replacement of some of the works from Manhole 20-338 through Manhole 20-340. Some repairs to the concrete utilidor structure are also contemplated.
