International Boundary & Water Commission, United States Section,
requires the furnishing of labor, materials, and equipment for the
rehabilitation of five (5) existing shallow bed automatic backwash
filters at the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant
(NIWTP), Nogales, Arizona. The approximate dimensions for each filter
are 16 feet wide by 120 feet long. Rehabilitation includes removal and
replacement of existing porous plates and filter media, backwash
pumps, skimmer pumps, and washwater pumps; and furnishing and
installing metal roof decking on an existing support structure. The
project is located within Santa Cruz County, AZ, approximately nine (9)
miles north of Nogales, Arizona. The estimated range of construction is
between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Tentative dates for issuing and
opening IFB 00-01 are August 2, 2000 and September 5, 2000,
respectively. Contract performance period is scheduled at 180 calendar
days after issuance of Notice to Proceed. Plans will be available
forinspection at the International Boundary & Water Commission, US
Section, 4171 North Mesa, Building C, Suite 224, El Paso, Texas
79902-1441. Copies of the bid packages are available at no charge. All
requests for bid documents must be in writing by August 2, 2000, no
telephone or facsimile request will be accepted. Requests for bid
documents must be sent to the preceding address, ATTN: Irma Gurrola.
Requests must include business name, point of contact, address,
telephone and fax numbers (include area code), e-mail address (if
available), and IFB number. Offerors are strongly encouraged to attend
the pre- bid conference and site visit at the time designated in the
IFB. The standard industry classification (SIC) code for this
acquisition is 1629 for Heavy Construction Other Than Building. The
small business size standard is $17.0 million dollars in annual average
gross receipts for the past three years. All responsible sources may
