The US Army Material Command Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division proposes to award a sole source contract to Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp 1600 Commerce Street Boulder, CO 80301 for a 100 watt and 50 watt portable power system. The 100 watt system measures 4.3X8X10 inches and weighs only 8.5 pounds. The unit incorporates polycarbonate construction and will withstand shock, vibration, and outdoor environments. An ultralightweight hydrogen storage tank is attached. This system furnishes power to charge batteries. The 50 watt system measures 4.3X7.7X8 inches and weighs only 6.5 pounds. The unit incorporates polycarbonate contruction and will withstand shock,vibration, and outdoor environments. An ultrtalightweight hydrogen storage tank is attached. This fuel cell offers an alternative to batteries. This is a sole source due to the unique capablities of these power systems. A fixed price contract is anticipated.
