The Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB, CA (AFFTC), has a requirement for seven (7) each multiple bit rate bit synchronizers/modems, part number AMBR2000, which must be capable of either simplex or duplex operation; must accept either a single ended Bi-level CMOS, TTL or RS232 data stream, and converts this data into a BIo-L or NRZ-L code suitable for RF transmission; also must accept BI-L or NRZ-L input code, and outputs the originally transmitted Bi-level serial data stream, along with a synchronous bit rate clock; in its repeater mode it must accept analog data from a receiver, process the data through the bit synchronizer, and drive a transmitter via a supplied pre-modulated filter. The following characteristics are required: Data Rate 39 KBPS to 10 MBPS; Data Rate Resolution 31.25 BPS from 39.0625 KBPS to 78.125 KBPS; 62.5 BPS from 78.125 KBPS to 156.25 KBPS; 125 BPS from 156.25 KBPS to 312.5; 250 BPS from 312.5 KBPS to 625 KBPS; 500 BPS from 625 KBPS to 1.25 MBPS; 1.0 BPS from 1.25 KBPS to 2.5 MBPS; 2.0 BPS from 2.5 KBPS to 5.00 MBPS; 4.0 BPS from 5.00 KBPS to 10.00 MBPS. Analog input from Receiver: Format: BI-L or NRZ-L (programmable); Level 0.1 VRMS to 5.0 VRMS (controlled by AGC amplifier). Post-detection filter: Programmed in conjunction with bit rate. Data input Format: NRZ-L; Level TTL/CMOS, RS232 or RS422. The SEND input may be used, when transmitting BI-L data, to send an alternating bit pattern prior to actual data. Level: TTL/CMOS, RS232 or RS422. Output Characteristics Transmitter Data Format: BI-L or NRZ-L (programmable). Come from transmit side of Modem or from receive side for Repeater mode; Level 0.1 Vp-p into 75 ohm load (adjustable); Premodulated Filtering: On-board filter programmed in conjunction with bit rate. Received Data: Format (NRZ-L Test): BI-L or NRZ-L (programmable); Level NRZ-L Test: TTL; Level (bit rate clock): TTL/CMOS, RS232 or RS422 (factory select). Recorder Outputs (Data and bit rate clock): Format: BI-L or NRZ-L (factory select); Level: TTL/CMOS, RS232 or RS422 (factory select); Level Adjustment: RS422 output level adjustable to 10 Vp-p. Programming Interface: Parameters: Bit Rate, Pre-modulation and Post-detection filter frequency, NRZ-L/ BI-L selection are programmable via an RS232 data port. Programming software supplied with unit. Power Requirements: input voltage: 284 VDC; Reverse Polarity: Protected from reversals of input power supply; Input Current: 500 mA maximum. Environmental Characteristics: Temperature Operating: -20C to +70C; Temperature Non-operating: -65C to +150C; Vibration: 20 G RMS, 20 Hz to 2000Hz in any axis; Shock: Half sine wave shock of 100 G_s for 11 mS duration along each of the three major axes; Humidity: 95% relative humidity including condensation per MIL-STD-810; Altitude: Unlimited. Mechanical Specifications: Housing: Aluminum, with gold chemicalfilm protective coating; Dimensions: 6.75_ x 5.0_ x 1.3_ nominal, inclusive of mounting flange and connectors; Weight: 21 ounces maximum; Connectors: SMA for Data input (Receiver) and Data Output (Transmitter); DEM9S for Programming; DAM15P for power, Recorder output, and miscellaneous signals.
